Celebrating Jamie's success at the Prince's Trust Awards

Jamie Princes Trust

Coatech are delighted to announce that Jamie, a member of our site team, was selected as one of only three finalists at the recent Prince’s Trust Wales ‘Celebrate Success’ Awards in the ‘Rising Star’ category. The prestigious ceremony was held at the National Museum in Cardiff and attended by celebrities including Ospreys rugby players Ben John and Joe Bearman and footballer Lee Trundle. The awards were a fantastic celebration of the determination of young people who have overcome great difficulties in their lives and have gone on to achieve remarkable things.

Jamie was very interested in a career in the construction industry and originally came to Coatech on a work placement through the Princes Trust ‘Get into Construction’ scheme. His work ethic, passion for his work and desire to learn led to this becoming a full-time position with our site team.

Philippa Davies, Get into Executive for the Princes Trust and Jamie’s mentor said “The North Wales‘Get Into Construction’ Programmes are an excellent example of how partnership working between Prince’s Trust and fantastic local employers, such as Coatech, can offer opportunities to young people with perceived personal barriers, who have been unsuccessful, despite best efforts to achieve progression in their lives such as employment and training.

Jamie is a spectacular example of a young person who was been offered an opportunity and has absolutely grabbed it with both hands and run with it, in every way possible, and as a result has achieved a complete change of life, beyond his own belief.

I couldn’t be more delighted that Jamie was named runner-up in Wales for The Aventa Partners Award for Rising Star at The Prince’s Trust Celebrate Success Awards this year, he absolutely deserved it. Jamie is inspirational in his achievement, and is now keen to do what he can to support other young people who may be stood in the same shoes he was just over a year ago, by coming along to talk to groups, who are considering choosing ‘Get Into Construction’ as a way forward.”

Contracts Director, Mathew Shufflebotham said “we are proud to work alongside charities such as the Prince’s Trust, who have, and continue to make a huge difference to young people’s lives up and down the country. Jamie is a prime example of how with the right support, people can transform their lives and achieve great things. Jamie has a bright future ahead of him and it is great to have him as part of our team”

Jamie is now embarking on his next challenge, an NVQ in Construction Contracting Operations which he will begin in the new year. Very well done Jamie on your fantastic achievement!
