Proudly Supporting the Princes Trust

Princes Trust

Coatech is delighted to be supporting the work of the Princes Trust once again, by participating in their ‘Get into Construction’ Programme. The three week programme supports young people aged between 18 & 25 who are not in education, employment or training in developing confidence, skills and experience to help them into work.

During the 3 weeks the participants undertake:
  • Their Health & Safety Awareness course
  • Their Health, Safety & Environmental test to obtain a CSCS card
  • Their CPCS practical and theory training and test for a Forward Tipping Dumper,
  • Work experience on site with a range of construction contractors in North Wales
  • Employability and teambuilding skills training with Prince’s Trust and their delivery partners Jones Bros Civil Engineering and the CITB

The programme plays a pivotal role in helping candidates gain the experience, knowledge, skills and qualifications they need to work in the industry. Jamie, is the second candidate to join us from the programme, following in the footsteps of Ryan who was offered a full time position with Coatech in April 2015.

Jamie is working hard to gain the experience he needs to work in the construction industry, building on his previous training and experience in Groundwork. Jamie was with us for the work experience element of the course, during which he had a hands-on role working with the Site Team on various domestic and commercial projects and got to experience a wide variety of the types of contracts we undertake. Jamie was a great asset to the team on these projects and learnt a lot during his time with us.

Philippa Davies, the ‘Get Into’ Programme Executive for Princes Trust Cymru, said “this is the second Get Into Construction training programme we have held in North Wales, based on the success of the first programme in April.

On successful completion the programme provides valuable construction qualifications and real on-site experience with construction companies. This programme is designed for young people who want to work in the construction industry, but for a wide range of reasons have not had the opportunity to gain the qualifications and experience needed to start their career.

Gaining employment enables young people who have become stuck in a rut to change their lives. This was proven in the case of Ryan, from our first construction programme earlier this year, who was offered permanent employment by Coatech whilst on the programme. This opportunity has enabled him to turn his life around completely.

Since then Coatech have continued to provide fantastic support to the Prince’s Trusts young people through our Get Into Construction programmes. For our most recent programme, run with Delivery Partner Jones Bros Civil Engineering they have kindly offered the opportunity for work experience for Jamie.

Jamie gained so much from this work experience, both personally through increasing his confidence and self belief, as well as professionally, through working as part of a team on construction contracts across the UK. Coatech have provided Jamie with an excellent reference, and supported him by attending our final celebration where he was presented with his certificates. Thank you so much to Emma, Mathew and all at Coatech, and big congratulations to Jamie! We look forward to a great ongoing relationship with Coatech.”

Coatech wish Jamie all the best with his future career in construction.
