Yet another award for a Coatech Project

Alexandra Park

Coatech is delighted to hear that yet another project we have been involved in has won a prestigious award

The ‘Alexandra Park Restoration’ project was completed in summer 2014 for client Balfour Beatty as part of a £5.5 million pound regeneration of the historic park for Manchester City Council. As part of the project Coatech installed the Resin Bonded Surfacing surrounding the Pavilion.

The annual North West Regional Construction Awards, hosted by Construction Excellence, took place at the University of Salford. Balfour Beatty Regional scooped the ‘Sustainability' award for their work on the project, and also went on to win the prestigious ‘Contractor of the Year' award. The awards recognise exceptional companies and projects from across the region that have demonstrated strength, passion and commitment in a collaborative and sustainable manner

Coatech played a part in helping to achieve sustainable outcomes on this project by working closely with the client on the surfacing phase of the works. The product specified was Addagrip’s Addastone and the natural aggregate selected by the client was Trent Pea 3-6mm to compliment the park’s surroundings. In all 385 m² of Resin Bonded Surfacing was installed, providing an excellent anti-slip finish for the heavily trafficked area.

On the project 100% of the resin packaging was recycled, as were all pallets. The waste aggregate on the project was re-used within the landscaping of the park, meaning that this was also diverted from landfill

The project will now be considered in the nominations for the National Construction Excellence Awards later in the year.
