Denbighshire County Council approached Coatech about an ongoing problem with the surfacing of their outdoor children’s Paddling Pool in Rhyl. A problem which had forced them to close it in previous seasons
The previous surface was too abrasive and prompted many complaints that children were injuring themselves on the surface; this was subject to widespread coverage in the local media
The brief was to install a safe surface which was also slip-resistant, easy to clean and not affected by continual submersion
The solution Coatech proposed was a Rubber Crumb safety surface; hand-trowelled to a depth of 20mm
Some 1000m² of this product was installed by the team in a vibrant Sky Blue and Orange
The Council are extremely pleased with the new pool, as are the thousands of local and visiting children who are able to use the pool safely again
We are also pleased to say there have been no reported incidents since it has reopened
