Resin Treepits

A HIGHLY ATTRACTIVE, ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY SURFACING SOLUTION

Many landscaping projects benefit from the installation of resin bound tree pits. These highly permeable systems are aesthetically pleasing, eco-friendly and protect the base of the trees where soil and roots are exposed. Water and nutrients pass freely through the surface to support the tree’s growth. These systems are fully compliant with SuDS regulations and offer a convenient way to control weeds and litter. The typical installation depth ranges from 50mm to 75mm using a 10mm sized aggregate

low maintenance

Low Maintenance and Cost-effective

Comparatively, resin bound tree pits are considerably less expensive than other types of street furniture, such as steel grates or grills. They can be maintained with ease and offer greater longevity than bark or soil

Slip-Resistant

The slip resistant properties of this system can be further enhanced with the addition of a light glass bead, which is broadcast over the surface during the curing stage. This is particularly beneficial in busy pedestrian zones

High Visual Impact

The decorative nature of the aggregate offers an attractive finish that complements surrounding structures, street furniture and landmarks. A wide range of different coloured aggregates are available

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS

  • Urban regeneration projects
  • Parks and gardens
  • Retail outlets
  • Car parks
  • Educational settings
  • Visitor attractions
  • Public spaces

INSTALLATION

A collar is fixed around the base of the tree to prevent any growth restrictions. Once cleared of debris, the base of the tree pit is filled with the loose, porous aggregate, which is compacted to achieve the desired depth. More aggregate is then mixed by a forced action mixer to which resin is added. Once fully blended, the mix is poured onto the base and trowel-applied around the tree to achieve a smooth finish

Before After

ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS:

  • Growth of trees not restricted
  • System uses natural aggregates
  • Fully compliant with SuDS regulations for water drainage

HEALTH AND SAFETY BENEFITS:

  • No trip-hazard posed by raised grilles or sunken bark
  • Anti slip, unlike some exterior floor finishes
