Bespoke Terracotta Blend

Case Study

KEELE UNIVERSITY

Coatech were awarded the project from Principal Contractors Ground Control and worked in conjunction with Architects BCA Landscape to provide new surfacing to an area at Keele University

The contract entailed installing Resin Bound Stone surfacing to Central Drive.  Central Drive is a pedestrianised access route from which the university’s main buildings such as library, laboratories and student union can be accessed

In total Coatech laid 2071m² of RonaDeck’s Resin Bound Stone at an average thickness of 18mm in two contrasting colours. The colours chosen for the project were a Silver Grey Granite mix and a bespoke blend of terracotta aggregates specifically made for the project, which complemented the university’s red brick buildings perfectly

The landscape architect had a very specific design in mind for this project and to achieve the modern curve design stainless steel edging was installed in a waving pattern to separate the two colours

The client specifically proposed Resin Bound Stone for the project because of the product’s longevity and durability to withstand daily trafficking from thousands of students

This surface provides Keele University with a hardwearing, low maintenance, decorative finish to perfectly showcase their historic buildings
